Residents and families can prepare for, plan for, and stay informed about the 2017 hurricane season by attending Hillsborough County’s Hurricane Expo on Saturday, June 3, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the WestShore Plaza mall, located at West Kennedy and Westshore boulevards in Tampa.
This year’s expo will bring together local partners and feature activities for adults and children, including educational displays, disaster preparedness booths, and a severe weather panel at 12:30 p.m. with local meteorology experts. Expo attendees will be able to identify their evacuation zone, pick up preparedness materials, sign up for HCFL Alert, and enter raffles to win prizes. Disaster response experts from Hillsborough County, the City of Temple Terrace, the American Red Cross, and the National Weather Service will be on hand to answer questions and provide information on how to protect families and homes from hurricanes and other disasters.
Admission to the expo is free. The event will be held near the center court area of the mall; the closest entrances are on the Kennedy Boulevard side of the building.
The 2017 Hillsborough County Hurricane Expo is a partnership of Hillsborough County, the American Red Cross, MOSI, the National Weather Service, and WestShore Plaza. For more information, visit hurricaneexpo.com.
