Speakers from the U.S. Department of Justice, Civil Rights Division, Immigrant and Employee Rights Section, will discuss information for employers and applicants regarding the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA), which prohibits discrimination against U.S. citizens and other work-authorized individuals based on their citizenship status or national origin. This session will help employers understand issues that may arise during hiring and while completing the employment eligibility verification process (Form I-9 and E-Verify) for refugees or asylees. Job applicants can also benefit from understanding their rights under INA. Learn how EEOC's laws prohibiting national origin discrimination and discrimination based on other protected categories may also apply.
