    Greater Riverview Chamber of Commerce
    Monthly Member Luncheon
    Sponsored by Grantham University

On Tuesday, October 23, 2018 the Greater Riverview Chamber of Commerce (GRCC) hosted their monthly luncheon event at The Regent, 6437 Watson Road, Riverview, FL. The October “Non-Profit Showcase” Membership Meeting Luncheon was sponsored by Grantham University and Pastor Kevin Yoakum, Christ The King Lutheran Church, provided the day’s invocation.

GRCC President Michelle Mosher, Southshore Insurance Professionals, LLC, welcomed the group.  Then, leading the room this month in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance was 2018 Honorary Mayor of Riverview Dr. Bryan Thatcher.  This month’s Military Recognition and Appreciation was provided by Military Affairs Committee Member Ted Manna, Clear View Window Cleaning Service, honoring George Colon.

Michelle introduced and welcomed the day’s sponsor, George Colon, Grantham University, to the podium.  George provided a brief overview of Grantham and their connection with the military.  George very kindly relinquished the speaker time so that those participating in the Non-Profit Showcase could have 2 minutes each at the microphone to introduce their organization.  These non-profits included The Etiquette School of Refined Minds, Water Smart Tots, Inc, A Little Life Unlived Inc., The Trey Curry Foundation, Riverview Woman's Club, ECHO - Emergency Care Help Organization, Sgt. Walter P. Ryan Detachment, Inc., RVR Horse Rescue, Mary and Martha House, Inc., Seeds of Hope, Inc., Tampa YMCA, Brandon Sports and Aquatic Center, Wounded Warriors in Action Foundation, The Sylvia Thomas Center for Adoptive & Foster Families, Inc., American Cancer Society, Suncoast Community Health Centers and Riverview Our Town.

2018 Honorary Mayor of Riverview Dr. Bryan Thatcher, Thatcher Properties, came to the podium to introduce the winner of the 2019 Honorary Mayor of Riverview race.  Much praise was given to the three candidates who brought in a total of $33,765!  With over $24,000 collected by Bill Andrew, Superior Residences of Brandon Memory Care, Bill was pronounced the winner.  Pearl Chiarenza, Bodyworks Health & Wellness Center and Kerin Clarkin, Keller Williams - Kerin Realty were also happy to have raised some much-needed funds for their charities as well.  Pearl donated monies to FishHawk-Riverview Rotary Club and The Sylvia Thomas Center for Adoptive & Foster Families, Inc. while Kerin donated his funds to Riverview Woman's Club.  They will each be Honorary Deputy Mayors for 2019.  Bill will serve one year on the GRCC Board of Directors and as a team they will all help to deliver Proclamations at GRCC Ribbon Cuttings and present the Pledge of Allegiance at the monthly luncheons.  David Garcia, Legislative Aid to District 4 BOCC Stacy White, was on hand to deliver a Hillsborough County Commendation to Bill Andrew for his hard word and dedication throughout the race.

Marijean Reith, Team Reith - RE/MAX Realty Unlimited, reminded the guests that we are approaching Trick or Treat Street time and this is our 30th Anniversary.  She encouraged everyone to come out to the event and see what it is this Chamber does for their community.

This month’s Ambassador of the Month certificate was presented to Tarie MacMillan, Young Living Essential Oils.  Tarie is a very new Ambassador but has taken on the role with gusto as she does everything in life.  August Ambassador of the Month Craig Beckinger, An ABC Event, Inc., was delighted to present the award to Tarie this month.

During the luncheon, Past President Elijah Heath, Edward Jones, welcomed 16 New GRCC Members who were presented a 2018 Greater Riverview Chamber of Commerce membership plaque to proudly display.  Nikki Foster, The Mosaic Company, provided recognition to all of the renewing members present at the luncheon, they were presented new GRCC lapel pins.
