Greater Riverview Chamber of Commerce
On Tuesday, April 28, 2020 the Greater Riverview Chamber of Commerce (GRCC) hosted their monthly membership meeting through a Zoom meeting. Due to the stay at home order in place, GRCC was forced to transfer this in person meeting online to Zoom, where more than 70 members tuned in from the comfort of their homes. 2020 GRCC President Mike Jones, Florida DOE Vocational Rehabilitation, provided the day’s prayer. Leading the meeting this month in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance was 2020 Honorary Mayor of Riverview, Daniel Cyral of Hypnotic Engagements.
President Mike Jones welcomed everyone who tuned in to watch the virtual meeting. He touched on the positives coming from the current situation. He recognized some of the businesses that have gotten creative in improving their business through all the current challenges. He motivated everyone to hang on a little longer in hopes restrictions will be lifted soon. Most importantly, he thanked the essential workers and those on the front lines for risking their lives to keep the community safe.
Greater Riverview Chamber of Commerce was fortunate to have board member, Dan Bender, South Bay Hospital, to speak on behalf of the healthcare system. He let viewers know about the challenges they have faced but how thankful they were for the outpouring support from the community. He provided inspiration to those in the community and let viewers know about the hospital honk happening on Thursday, April 30th. He encouraged everyone to drive by and share a honk to thank those nurses, doctors, and staff working at the hospital through this COVID-19 pandemic.
During this Zoom meeting, 2020 Honorary Mayor of Riverview, Daniel Cyral, spoke on behalf of the April Member Spotlight, Jim Held, Colmar Inspections Services. Tanya Doran, GRCC Executive Director then chose the May Member Spotlight to be Shirley Bhat, FishHawk-Riverview Rotary Club.
At this month’s meeting, Debbie Kirkland, GRCC Membership Director, welcomed 4 New GRCC Members. Michelle Mosher, Southshore Insurance Professionals, LLC, provided recognition to the renewing members.
