Greater Riverview Chamber of Commerce
Goes on Tour at
Sam’s Club Riverview
On the morning of August 20, 2019, Sam’s Club Riverview opened its doors for a special Open House Breakfast and Backstage Tour especially for Greater Riverview Chamber of Commerce (GRCC) members. Greeted by smiling employees, GRCC members entered the store to the sight of fresh fruit, bakery items, and an impressive table of prize giveaways. Also, there to greet the group was a team of Sam’s Club Riverview department leaders, including store manager, Lee Galligher.
First, a proclamation was delivered by GRCC Past President, Joe Eletto, recognizing the occasion as Sam’s Club Day! The Sam’s Club leadership team then shared a history of Sam’s Club, information about the company’s values, and examples of how Sam’s Club engages with the local community. They shared that the Sam’s Club of Riverview has awarded $11,000 in grants to the local community so far this year. They also gave examples of unique benefits Sam’s Club offers to its employees, such as funds towards child adoption. After the informative dialogue, it was time for the tour to begin.
Small groups were led to the different departments for a behind the scenes experience. At the bakery, members were able to don a hair net and decorate cupcakes. At the meat counter, tour-ists gazed in amazement at the rotisserie ovens, which they learned can cook 96 chickens every 90 minutes. The group was also amazed at the low price of these freshly cooked birds - $4.98 each! As they continued on to the loading dock area, the tour groups learned about donations of food that Sam’s Club makes multiple times a week to Feeding America and pet care items that are regularly donated to Critter Adoption and Rescue Effort (C.A.R.E.) of Ruskin.
At each stop on the tour, a coupon or goodie was provided. Attendees walked away with a bag full of Sam’s Club swag, including a coupon for a free rotisserie chicken, free combo meal from the café, and two freshly baked cookies! As the event came to a close, it was finally time for the raffle to be drawn for the prize giveaways. A holiday themed decorative pick up truck and a waterproof Monster Bluetooth speaker, were two of the crowd favorites. Whether a raffle prize was won or not, each attendee walked away a winner-winner chicken dinner with a deeper understanding of the good Sam’s Club does. They also witnessed first-hand that at Sam’s Club, their goal is to have member service that is not just the best, but legendary.
GRCC thanks Sam’s Club for hosting this Open House Breakfast and Backstage Tour! Sam’s Club of Riverview is located at 10385 Big Bend Road, on the southwest corner of the US 301 and Big Bend intersection.
