• GRCC Hosts May Munch & Mingle Networking Event

On Tuesday, May 11th, Greater Riverview Chamber of Commerce (GRCC) hosted the May Munch & Mingle networking event at Winthrop Barn where attendees were all extremely excited to return to in person events. This event was sponsored by Christopher Ligori and Associates, catered by Datz Restaurant Group and linens were provided by Fancy That Specialty Linens.

During this event, GRCC Legacy Investor Rich Rhode, R Processor, Inc., described the importance of belonging to the chamber by recalling the first client he worked with in the area. Through the chamber, he was able to make a business connection that has lasted through the present day. Also speaking at the event, Casey Rodgers, Chief Financial Officer of the Tampa Bay Lightning, informed attendees of the community outreach programs that the Lightning and Vinik Sports Group has to offer in the area.

Following the guest speaker, 2020 GRCC President Mike Jones, Florida DOE Vocational Rehabilitation, Kristi McCart, McCart & Tesmer, P.A., and Heather Michael, Crissy's Hair Salon took the stage to recognize the winners of the 2021 Dr. Earl Lennard Scholarship: Anna Caroline Howard – Riverview High School, Emily Ann Pesquera – East Bay High School, Reagan Pulkowski – Riverview High School, Mattison Burriss – Lennard High School, and Asia Nobles – Spoto High School.

This scholarship is dedicated to the memory of prominent local educator Dr. Earl Lennard. Dr. Lennard was a longtime educator who served as Hillsborough County's Superintendent of Schools and as its Supervisor of Elections. Earl became a teacher in Hillsborough schools in 1963, working his way up to the top post in 1996. Lennard retired from education in 2005, and from the elections office in 2012. On December 23rd, 2019, Earl passed away at the age of 77.

A 50/50 raffle was held with the proceeds going directly to the Dr. Earl Lennard Scholarship fund. After raising $286, Heather Michael from Crissy's Hair Salon graciously donated her half of the winnings back to the fund.
Special thanks to the Riverview Woman’s Club for their help in organizing the scholarship selection process.

GRCC Event Manager, Gabby Morford closed out the meeting by thanking everyone for attending and encouraging guests to attend all the upcoming GRCC events. The next Munch & Mingle will be held on Tuesday, June 8th.
