Riverview Mortgage Sponsors November’s
Greater Riverview Chamber of Commerce
Greater Riverview Chamber of Commerce (GRCC) held their monthly event on Tuesday, November 26, 2019, at The Regent, 6437 Watson Road, Riverview, FL. The November event was sponsored by Riverview Mortgage. The lively room featured fall colors, upbeat music, and the spirit of gratitude filled the air. A flavorful lunch was catered by GRCC member, Ciccio Cali. And the heart-warming end to the meal was sweet treats served by LeAnne’s Old Fashioned Cookies.
As the meeting began, Pastor Beau DiFrenna – Bayside Community Church, provided the day’s invocation and encouraged all to embrace their thankfulness. 2019 Honorary Mayor of Riverview, Bill Andrew - Tessera of Brandon, lead the group in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance. Next, co-leader of GRCC’s Military Affairs Committee (MAC), Rich Rhode – R Processor, took the stage to present the day’s military recognition recipient. Active Duty Master Sergeant, Avery Skipalis, stood to be recognized by attendees and received a well-deserved standing ovation.
GRCC President Michelle Mosher – Southshore Insurance Professionals, then approached the podium. She officially welcomed everyone to the luncheon and allowed time for the Board of Directors, Past Presidents, and Ambassadors to make themselves known to the room. She congratulated member TeleVoIPS for being included on Inc. Magazine’s Annual List of America’s Fastest-Growing Private Companies—the Inc. 5000. Mosher also announced the opening of GRCC’s new online store featuring Riverview apparel and merchandise. From T-shirts to baseball caps, totes and thermoses, and even onesies for our littlest Riverview residents - all colors and sizes are available. She encouraged attendees to shop local and show their Riverview pride. Mosher then invited the day’s sponsor, Julie Dahl – Riverview Mortgage, to the stage.
Riverview Mortgage has been a member of GRCC for 7 years. Dahl took a moment to ask for toy donations for their annual Toys for Tots initiative. She spoke briefly before inviting their guest, Motivational Speaker and Author, Steve Hopper to the microphone. Hopper engaged the audience by sharing his inspiring personal story of perseverance and overcoming dark times. He encouraged the group to be authentic in their daily lives and to share the real person they are with those they meet.
GRCC’s Honorary Mayor of Riverview race has just a few weeks remaining and the two candidates each had time to speak at this month’s luncheon. First, Daniel Cyral – Hypnotic Engagements, invited guests to join him on an Amazing Golf Cart Race scheduled for Sunday, December 8. Cyral’s campaign is raising funds for My Warrior’s Place and South County Spartans Athletic Program. Bryan and Marijean Reith - Team Reith – RE/MAX Realty Unlimited, then took the stage to share their Riverview-opoly fundraising board game. The husband and wife duo are running as one candidate and raising funds for ECHO and Impact Program. The outcome of the race and 2020 Honorary Mayor of Riverview will be announced at GRCC’s next monthly luncheon on December 17.
Fitting for the season, the meeting took a turn to football and Tampa Bay’s hosting of Super Bowl LV. LaKendria Robinson, Director Business Connect and Community Outreach for Super Bowl LV, shared the event’s goals to utilize as many local businesses as possible. She announced opportunities for local businesses that provide various services including, but not limited to: fencing, barricades, security, catering, and equipment rentals. Next to the stage was GRCC President Elect, Mike Jones – World’s Finest Chocolate, with an invitation for all to join him at GRCC’s Annual Awards Dinner on January 17, 2020. The theme of the event this year is Caribbean Nights. Guests are encouraged to dress up to match the theme and Jones said, “You can wear Tommy Bahama or dress up like Captain Jack Sparrow”, the most important thing is to have FUN! Hillsborough County Supervisor of Elections, Craig Latimer, took the stage next to shed light on the efforts of his office to run an election. Latimer said his office is looking for poll workers to assist with the upcoming elections. He described the duty of poll worker as a wonderful opportunity for members of the community to participate in an election and restore their faith in the voting process.
