Greater Riverview Chamber of Commerce
On Tuesday, January 28, 2020 the Greater Riverview Chamber of Commerce (GRCC) hosted their monthly membership luncheon at The Regent, 6437 Watson Road, Riverview, FL. As an annual tradition The Mosaic Company hosted the first luncheon of the new year. Pastor Susan Hill, Presbyterian Church of Bloomingdale. provided the day’s invocation.
2020 GRCC President, Mike Jones, welcomed everyone to the luncheon and invited his board of directors and past presidents to introduce themselves to the crowd. Leading the group this month in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance was 2020 Honorary Mayor of Riverview, Daniel Cyral of Hypnotic Engagements. Joe Eletto, Hillsborough County Veterans Helping Veterans Inc. recognized Larry Wescott, American Legion Post #148, during our Military Recognition.
Nikki Foster, Public Affairs Manager, The Mosaic Company, spoke briefly to the group about the commitment that Mosaic has to this community. As she introduced speaker, Cheryl Flood, Executive Director, Florida State Fair Authority, she reflected upon Mosaic’s long history with the Florida State Fair and how proud they are to be a vital part of this yearly salute to our great state. Cheryl then took time to review the incredible new activities going on at this year’s fair including Ripley’s Believe It or Not as well as bringing back the Demolition Derby. Once she gave a huge bag of cotton candy to everyone and read all of the great and interesting food choices, they were going to have this year, she promised all the luncheon attendees one free ticket to the fair when they exited that day.
During this luncheon, President Mike Jones provided a quick overview of the GRCC Annual Dinner and Awards Celebration, congratulating all the award winners again. President Mike Jones also announced the Dr. Earl Lennard Scholarship Program and explained they were very close to their $3,000 goal. He encouraged all attendees to contribute to this scholarship honoring a late valuable community leader. President Mike Jones also recognized January Member Spotlight, Susan Williams, Fancy That Specialty Linens LLC and chose Melissa Roberts, The Observer News, to be the February Member Spotlight.
During the program, Milestone Member, Jim Allen, Riverview United Methodist Church, was recognized and gave a few words at the microphone. 2019 President Michelle Mosher, Southshore Insurance Professionals, LLC, recognized Elijah Heath, Heath Wealth Management LLC, for being a part of the 2019 GRCC Board of Directors.
During the program, Event Chair Christian Beiter, Preservation 1st Financial Group, LLC, spoke about the 26th Annual Golf Tournament, encouraging everyone to mark their calendars for Saturday, February 29th. He explained there were opportunities to play in the tournament, be a sponsor for the tournament, or volunteer during the event. Corey McCaster, Florida Small Business Development Center Consultant, spoke about what SBDC has to offer to our members and encouraged them to refer their friends and family to get a consultation. Janice Bayruns, FirstLight Home Care, spoke on GRCC’s brand new event, TurboChatter NetworkNite. She advertised this event to be on March 31st, stating it would be speed networking like you have never seen before.
At this month’s luncheon, Bill Andrew, Tessera of Brandon, welcomed 16 New GRCC Members. Michelle Mosher, Southshore Insurance Professionals, LLC, provided recognition to renewing members who were present.
