Grantham University Sponsors October’s
Greater Riverview Chamber of Commerce
Greater Riverview Chamber of Commerce (GRCC) held their monthly event on Tuesday, October 22, 2019, at The Regent, 6437 Watson Road, Riverview, FL. Grantham University generously hosted this month’s luncheon, which happened to be GRCC’s annual Non-Profit Showcase. This Non-Profit Showcase edition featured display tables from over a dozen of GRCC’s Non-Profit members. This showcase awarded these Non-Profits the opportunity to engage with attendees and share their organization’s mission. The room was abuzz with energy, lively music, and the sound of meaningful conversations. A hearty and tasty lunch was catered by long time GRCC member, Lupton’s Catering.
Marking the commencement of the meeting, Pastor Louis Telcy, Riverview Methodist Church, provided the day’s invocation. 2019 Honorary Mayor of Riverview, Bill Andrew - Tessera of Brandon, lead the group in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance.
Next, GRCC’s Past President and leader of their Military Affairs Committee (MAC), Joe Eletto – Century 21 Beggins, took the stage to present the day’s military recognition recipient. For his service and ongoing commitment to servicing Veterans, William “Bill” Hodges, accompanied by his wife Phyllis, stood to be recognized by the attendees and received a standing ovation. Eletto then shared a report on GRCC MAC’s recent tour to MacDill Air Force Base. Members of GRCC made donations of appreciation in the amount of $20 (totaling $840) that were distributed to service men and women while the group was on the base tour. Lastly, Eletto took time to acknowledge an Honorary Commander in their presence, Tanya Doran, Executive Director of GRCC.
After the military announcements, GRCC President Michelle Mosher, Southshore Insurance Professionals, LLC approached the podium. She officially welcomed everyone to the luncheon and allowed time for the Board of Directors, Past Presidents and Ambassadors to make themselves known to the room. She invited everyone to save the date for the GRCC Annual Awards Dinner to be held on January 17, 2020. She also announced the addition of two board members, Wendy Heath – E&L Construction Group, and from the day’s sponsor, George Colon – Grantham University. The two new board members will be installed at the Annual Awards Dinner in 2020. Mosher then invited Director of University Outreach at Grantham University, George Colon to the stage.
Colon spoke to the audience of over 200 about Grantham University and highlighted the online degree programs it offers. Colon emphasized the career-relevant education the University provides with over 50 degree and certificate programs in areas of business, nursing, accounting, healthcare administration, and more.
GRCC’s Honorary Mayor of Riverview race is underway and the two candidates each had time to speak to the audience at this month’s luncheon. They shared the stage with the charities who are benefitting from their campaigns. First, Bryan and Marijean Reith - Team Reith – RE/MAX Realty Unlimited, the husband and wife duo running as one candidate, announced invitations to their upcoming events. Team Reith then introduced ECHO and Impact Program as the charities who will receive the funds of their campaign. The second candidate, Daniel Cyral – Hypnotic Engagements, introduced My Warrior’s Place and South County Spartans Athletic Program as his benefitting charities. He also extended invitations to his upcoming campaign events.
GRCC Board Member, Marijean Reith, Team Reith – RE/MAX Realty Unlimited, then returned to the stage to announce the October Ambassador of the Month, Daniel Cyral – Hypnotic Engagements.
