GRCC is always on the hunt for grants and opportunities that will benefit the greater Riverview community. As a part of the “Forever 55” Legacy Grant Program, the Tampa Bay Super Bowl LV Host Committee has awarded $280,000 to 28 different local nonprofit organizations. Among those chosen to receive grant funding was GRCC investor Water Smart Tots, Inc.
“It’s such an honor to be selected among many very noble organizations to receive the $10,000 microgrant,” said Kari Bahour, Founder and President of Water Smart Tots. “The Tampa Bay Superbowl Forever 55 Legacy grant will allow us to further our mission in combating childhood drowning in the Tampa Bay area. We are proud that Water Smart Tots has the opportunity to contribute to transformative change and ensure Super Bowl LV leaves a Forever impact in our community.”
Forever 55 is the host committee’s primary social legacy initiative that represents the impression that Super Bowl LV will have on our community. It was developed to support local nonprofit organizations and assist in the funding of a variety of community projects.
Overall, the local Host Committee and the NFL will make a $2 million investment in the Tampa Bay area that focuses on five core pillars, including early childhood education, food insecurity, sustainability, health and wellness, and systemic justice.
Water Smart Tots, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to eliminating pediatric drowning in the Greater Tampa Bay area. They provide interactive water safety programs to thousands of preschoolers in addition to awarding hundreds of scholarships for high-quality swim lessons to financially underprivileged children ages 12 months to 5 years.
“I am truly grateful to the GRCC for informing their investors of opportunities such as this to help businesses,” Bahour added. “We would have never applied if it wasn’t for GRCC. Thank you!”
