    Major Functions:
    This employee works directly with teachers, administrators, students and parents in coordinating the delivery of exceptional student programs. Provides technical assistance to ensure a continuum of service options. Complete any other duties as assigned by Principal.
     
    Duties and Responsibilities
    • Development of Individual Education Plans and holding meetings with parents/students/school personnel.
    • Display knowledge of current trends and research in exceptional student education with emphasis on rules, regulations, policies, litigation, and procedures on a federal, state or local level affecting exceptional students.
    • Meet with school-based personnel to interpret changing district, state and federal mandates.
    • Assure that parents have been informed of the student’s eligibility for exceptional student education and their due process rights. • Respond to inquiries from parents, employees, and the district in a timely manner
     • Communicate effectively orally and in writing. • Use effective communication strategies to interact with a variety of audiences.
    • Plan and provide school-based in-service trainings for employees related to ESE matters.
    • Demonstrate initiative and a proactive orientation to recognizing and resolving issues, concerns, or problems. • Assist administrators and school personnel with FTE and matrix data.
    • Actively participate in school-based meetings • Conduct any other assigned duties as directed by Principal. These may include lunch duty, FSAA/FSA testing, MTSS support, interviews, tours and assisting with the review of new student applications.
    • Assist with and oversee RtI process within the MTSS framework.
    • Assist with development and oversee implementation of FBA/PBIP.
    • Initiate and monitor the completion of the three-year reevaluation process (as necessary).
    • Interpret programs and placements to parents.
    • Ensure the school compliance with ESE rules and regulations.
    • Assist in overseeing the daily operations of the ESE department including work assignments to personnel and monitoring the quality of the work accomplished
    • Serve as a liaison between the school and community agencies related to ESE support (VR, Transition Programs, etc.).
    • Communicate effectively with the district LEA.
    • Participate in the annual evaluation of the ESE Assistant.

    Minimum Qualifications
    Certification in Exceptional Student Education
    Three years’ experience in working with ESE students.
    Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution.
