    Major Function
    A school principal serves as the educational leader and oversees the day-to-day operations of the school, ensures a safe and productive learning environment, and promotes the academic success and well-being of students. They collaborate with teachers, staff, students, parents, and community members to establish and uphold high academic standards, school policies, and educational programs that meet the needs of all students.

    Duties and Responsibilities
    • Create a safe positive, therapeutic environment for students and staff; lead teachers and instructional team leaders in developing a healthy school culture aligned with the mission and vision of the school 
    • Manage curriculum development and content by aligning, monitoring, and to facilitate learning and ensure compliance with established state and Pepin Academies’ guidelines
    • Supervise and manage staff; recruit, select, and hire school staff, including teachers and school-based support staff; monitor progress on all measures of school and staff performance
    • Create a culture of excellence, teamwork and collaboration amongst the staff, teachers, students and families; foster a school climate that supports both student and staff success and promotes respect and appreciation for all students, staff and parents
    • Administer Pepin Academies and District approved personnel policies and procedures; oversee any and all disciplinary actions, staff evaluations and walk throughs; provide for adequate supervision, training, and evaluation of all staff and volunteers
    • Communicate the vision that supports the school's goals and values; create an effective team of people jointly responsible for the attainment of school goals and committed to achieving excellence 
    • Manage the school-based budget for the campus and school-level inventory, communicating regularly with the Pepin Academies Finance Department 
    • Keep abreast of successful instructional methodologies and practices; provide high quality curricular training and resources to staff; ensure consistencies in instruction and practice amongst team of teachers and support staff, raising student achievement and improving instruction
    • Oversee the Individual Education Process throughout the school to ensure compliance 
    • Ensure all district and state documentation is submitted within allotted timeframe 
    • Communicates and collaborates with the Collaborative Group members to support a positive functioning school environment 
    • Ensure use of effective, research-based teaching methodologies and practices; implement data-driven instructional practices and lead discussions about student performance; maintain sufficient data records to support Pepin Academies accreditation standards and goals
    • Set and enforce rigorous standards for student achievement that are in line with the goals of Pepin Academies; ensure the academic program meets or exceeds yearly student outcome goals
    • Ensure the safety and security of all students, staff, visitors, and public and property
    • Supports the school by attending extra-curricular events and activities; some will require and administrator present 
    • Implement and monitor building safety systems; oversee facilities maintenance; oversee management of school records and resources; ensure compliance of local, state, and federal laws and regulations
    • Receive and resolve staff and parent complaints 
    • Maintain and model high standards of professional conduct 
    • Participate in all school level leadership, district charter and principal meetings

    Minimum Qualifications
    Master’s degree from an accredited educational institution
    Certification as School Principal, Educational Leadership or Educational Supervision and Administration
